Go Go Chocobo!

Oh. My. Gosh. Watched was absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t put it down. I was completely sucked in from the beginning, and I pretty much read it in an afternoon. It was smart, fast-paced, didn’t take itself too seriously and had pretty much everything I’ve been looking for in a YA novel lately.

Mikayla was a pretty likeable character, and I enjoyed watching her character develop. She struggles just like everyone else, and had this amazing, quirky sense of humor and snark. I love me some snark. She isn’t genetically superior in every way, (even giving her.. extenuating circumstances)and in a lot of ways, she seemed just like an average teenager trying to get through day to day life and get out of high school. I also found myself looking forward to interactions with Orchid and Chevy. They were real people with real depth, and had total likeability.

Watched ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, so readers will certainly be wanting a sequel—fast! (I know I do!) Overall, the book was highly original, brilliantly crafted, and delivers on multiple levels: it has an excellent concept, fantastic narration, and it’s a quick and suspenseful read.
